WORTH IT By Dr. Brian Simmons
Dr. Simmons, president of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), spoke at our parent assembly last week. Copies of his book, Worth It, are available in the MS/HS office for $10. Combining a strong, Biblical foundation and real-life stories, Dr. Simmons makes a compelling case for equipping our children with a Bible-based, Christ-centered education. 

GRANDPARENTS' DAY
Friday, October 5. We look forward to welcoming all our grandparents on campus next Friday. 

Grandparent Reception/Forum,10:00-10:45 am, ES Auditorium
               Coffee and doughnuts will be served

Grandparents and K-8 Chapel, 11:00-11:45 am, ES Auditorium, 
               ES, MS and HS choirs will perform

Grandparents and ES students Lunch, 12:00 pm, 
              Lunch in classrooms followed by activities
Grandparents and MS/HS students Pizza Lunch, 12:00 pm,
             Lunch in Gym 1, afterward visit your grandchild's
              classroom.

This is a day just for FCS students and their grandparents or "special someone". Due to space limitations, we are sorry we cannot accommodate more family members. Grandparents are our special guests on this particular day. We look forward to having them share this time on campus with their grandchildren, our students.

Don't Forget! Grandparents' Day, Friday, October 5, will NOT be a dress down day.
Dress down day will be Monday, October 8.

Monday, October 8, 2012, Cobb Galleria Centre; Keynote Speaker, Kirk Cameron; Fellowship Fund Kickoff, Art Show and Reception: 6:00 pm, Dinner: 7:00 pm. School will dismiss at noon on this day and it will be a dress down day.

FENCING CLUB
Wednesdays, 3:30 pm after school at Paladin Center. All girls and guys, grades 4 through 12 are invited to join.

MOVIE NIGHT
Thank you to all who came to the 4th Annual Fellowship Movie Night on the Green Acre. We had a terrific turn out and the kids enjoyed free popcorn, glow sticks and FCS beach balls! Don't forget your dress down passes expire October 18.

POPCORN PARTY CONTEST
Beginning October 1, the classroom that collects the most Box Tops and the classroom that collects the most Labels for Education by October 19 will win a party! Two classes can win. Look for the contest flyer in your child's Friday folder.

TREAD KAYAKING TRIP
Saturday, September 29, 8:00 am - 6:00 pm, Hiawassee, GA. Coach Hughes and participating students will leave from FCS at 8:00 am Saturday, September 29and return to FCS at 6:00 pm.

HOT LUNCH AND UTENSILS
While our hot lunch program is suspended, each student should bring a lunch to recharge for the day. Students should also bring their own forks and spoons.

ADJUSTED BELL SCHEDULES
We will have adjusted bell schedules on October 3, 5, 8 and 10. Please refer to Resource Documents in RenWeb for these schedules.

FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES (FCA)
Friday, October 5, 7:30 am, Gym 1. All middle and high school students are invited to join.

CALLING ALL ENGINEER MINDED PEOPLE!
Robotics Club is seeking adults from our school community to assist by mentoring our very quickly growing organization. We have 8 teams ranging from grades 6 to 12. Optimally, we would like each team to have at least one adult mentor with some expertise or background in engineering to help with the design and assembly of the team robot as well as troubleshooting. The time commitment would include consulting with your team twice a month during the robotics meeting on Wednesday mornings from 7:30-8:30 am. If interested please contact tammy.williamson@fcspaladins.org. Thank you in advance for donating your time and energy to promoting STEM learning at Fellowship. 

WINTER BREAK SKI TRIP
February 14-18, 2013 - Tread will be sponsoring 2013 Ski and Snowboarding Trip during Winter Break, February 14-18. This year we will be traveling to The Canyons, Utah. Friday, September 28, after school. Support the Senior Class as they raise money for their senior trip. Smoothies are $3.00

7:15 pm, Lecture Hall, Financial Aid Information Meeting. Ben Meadows from the Georgia Student Finance Commission will be here to meet with 9-12 grade parents.

University of Alabama representative will be on campus during lunch.

PSAT (practice for SAT) for grades 10 and 11.

SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY
Monday, October 29, 7:00 pm new members will be inducted into The Soiedad Honoraria Hispánica. This is a high school honor society for students enrolled in Spanish III Honors or Spanish IV Honors with an A average. The society recognizes high achievement of high school students in the Spanish language and promotes a continued interest in Hispanic studies in college. Annual dues are $15 for returning members and $25 for new members, and are now due.

COSTA RICA TRIP
FCS students will visit beautiful Costa Rica next summer in conjunction with Fellowship's efforts to extend our classrooms and learning opportunities across international borders. Students will immerse themselves in realistic Spanish conversations, gain insight into the nuances of verbal exchanges between Spanish speakers and will determine conversational meaning through context rather than direct translation - a true hands on learning experience.
