THANK YOU FROM THE ADMISSIONS OFFICE
Thank you to all the New Family Mentors and staff who helped make the New Family Ice Cream Social a huge success! Over 300 people were in attendance. We look forward to welcoming the new students into the Paladin Family. 

The Admissions Office is excited to announce we have enrolled our 800th student this week. God is good ALL the time. He blesses Fellowship in so many ways! We praise Him for continued enrollment growth.

SPIRIT WEAR SALE
Monday, May 6, 3:00-6:00pm only, Paladin Center. ALL FCS SPIRIT WEAR will be 50% off. Hurry in while supplies last!



SENIOR SMOOTHIES
Tuesday, May 7 and Thursday, May 9, after school. The Senior Class will be selling smoothies for $3.00 each to raise money for their upcoming Senior Trip to Disney World. The class appreciates your support.

FCS MARKET PLACE
Advanced Chimney Sweeps in Marietta is the newest business at the FCS Market Place. Business owners are Tenny Corbett and Dan Groves. 

GEORGIA GOAL
Please check the information on the FCS website to designate your state taxes to Georgia Goal and FCS. Currently, married couples or individuals can make a contribution and receive a tax credit. It may soon be possible for S Corporations, LLCs and Partnerships to contribute up to $10,000 to Georgia Goal. 

FELLOWSHIP FUND UPDATE
Parent Participation = 87% 
Almost to our goal of 90% PP!
Cash Collected = $451,580
(Goal: $600,000)

WOW!!!!   The entire Elementary School is well on its way to reaching 100% parent participation in the Fellowship Fund. We only need a few more elementary families to contribute! (Any amount is welcome.) Once the division reaches 100%, Mrs. Teston has agreed to let the entire Elementary School receive one week of fun dress-up days!!!

Middle School and High School parents - Please join our Elementary parents in contributing to this year's fund. All FCS students have already benefited from the gifts of others throughout the year. Among other things, proceeds from this year's fund have been used to:
  • Increase and update our security systems
  • Fund Winterfest, a two-day spiritual development program for all grades 
  • Contribute toward the building of a mission church in the Dominican Republic
  • Update our wireless networks on both campuses
  • Purchase technology tools for our teachers
  • Make stage improvements and provide additional resources for Performing Arts
  • Fund Master Plan and Design initiatives
With the remaining fund raised between now and the end of our fiscal year (June 30, 2013), we plan to:
  • Purchase additional technology tools for our teachers
  • Install acoustic tiles in both gyms
  • Implement prop and costume storage solutions for our Fine Arts Programs
  • Repair and improve the auxiliary athletic practice field

BUS DRIVERS NEEDED
If you know of anyone who may be interested in driving a morning bus route next year, please contact Melanie Pager, melanie.pager@fcspaladins.org. The buses are the small white buses not requiring a CDL license or any special certification. It will require approximately 2 to 2-1/2 hours depending on your route. Hourly pay based on experience starting at $15/hour.

LITTLE PALADINS, BIG PRIDE


BOX TOPS AND LABELS FOR EDUCATION
LAST CALL! May 3 - 10, this competition will kick-start the 2013-14 school year. The class with the most Box Tops and the class with the most L4E will receive extra recess and "goodies" on the playground. 

PHOTOS
Monday, May 6 is the final deadline to submit images to be considered for the Yearbook. The Yearbook staff is looking for images of Lacrosse, Baseball, Soccer and FCS at the Perimeter Track Meet. Submit your images to Cindy Hart, cindy.hart@fcspaladins.org, on a CD, DVD or flash drive. Labels on flash drives enable them to be returned.

ES SPRING MUSICAL

SAVE THE DATE!
Tuesday, May 21, 3:00-6:00 pm, Spirit Day @ Bruster's Ice Cream!!! The ES PTF will receive 15% for ALL sales during that time. Plan on being there and invite your friends and family to benefit FCS!

LIBRARY BOOKS
Wednesday, May 8 ALL library books are due. Please return any book which has been checked out,  pay any outstanding fines and for any lost books. Mrs. Landrum will reward the first class to do so with an extra recess.

FELLOWSHIP SCOUTS SPRING REGISTRATION
Thursday, May 9, 6:30 pm, Room 169, Fellowship Scouts Pack 356 will host an orientation/registration meeting for interested boys and their parents. A planned activity for boys to earn their first Belt Loop Award will be available. By attending and signing up for Scouts now, you can take advantage of the Summertime Pack Activities. Come find out how Scouting can help mold your son into the man the God wants him to be! RSVP Jim Everidge, cubmaster@fellowshipscouts.org.

LIBRARY BOOK CLUB
It's not too late to be a part of the Library Book Club! There are many wonderful books waiting to be part of our permanent collection. You can leave a lasting legacy for many current and future students by buying a book and giving it to the library in honor of a birthday, or to celebrate a new pet, a new baby or, perhaps, zero trips to the school nurse this year. SUMMER TUTORS AVAILABLE
Several Elementary teachers will be available this summer for tutoring in various areas and grade levels. Flyers are outside the ES office for more information

SUBSTITUTES FOR 2013-2014
ES is looking for people interested in being substitutes next year. A one day training session will be held during the week of teacher's pre-planning, August 5-8. Send your name and email address to carol.turner@fcspaladins.org, Carol will notify you of the exact day and time. All interested parties must fill out an application and return it to the ES office, then an appointment will be set up for an interview.

PTF GIVES MANY THANKS TO....
  • The faculty and staff for the amazing pancake breakfast served by apron wearing Mrs. Teston, Dr. Burris, Mr. Tacquard and Mr. Long. What a great way to start the day!
  • The parents participating in the "Summer Bridge" PTF fundraiser. We had 80% participation!
  • Kerri Persiano and Pamela Weatherby for leading our school in the Boxtops and the L4E program. Their hours of volunteer work shows by this being one of the most successful years to date.
  • The parents and students who took time to cut and collect all the boxtops and labels. The pictures below show some of the items purchased using points earned this year!






HAVE YOU ORDERED YOUR SCHOOLKIDZ KITS?
School kits for next year can be ordered now through June 16 at Schoolkidz. The Parent Letter has specific ordering instructions can be found on the FCS web siteUse FCS account number 84316 to order. This optional program saves time and makes back to school shopping easy. 

SPIRIT ITEMS AVAILABLE!
Order forms for PTF spirit items are available on the FCS website. Completed forms and checks made to FCS should be returned to the school office.

VARIETY SHOW

MS VOLLEYBALL TRY OUTS
Monday, May 6 and Tuesday, May 7, 3:30-5:00 pm, Gym 1. All MS students interested in playing volleyball next year are invited to try out. 

PRINCIPAL'S COFFEE
Monday, May 6, 8:00-8:45 am, Lecture Hall. Parents of current 6th and 7th graders are invited to join Mr. Tacquard this morning to find out more about the 2013-2014 school year.




MALIBU HERE WE COME...
Tuesday, May 7, $20 AND permission form due. This is a Middle School tradition for students as well as staff and FUN is had by all!! Activities and transportation, including go karts, are included. Students may choose to bring extra money for a few specialty games which will be offered for limited play times. Snacks are also available for sale. Permission forms and request for a $20 payment was emailed Thursday, May 2 and posted to RenWeb. Payment after Tuesday, May 7 will be $25 per person. Check out the park at www.malibugrandprix.com

8th GRADE CELEBRATION ATTIRE
Tuesday, May 7, right after school, Room 110 (Mrs. Bell's room). All dresses must be approved by Mrs. Bell or Mrs. McDonald. There will not be any other available times for approval. Girls do not need jewelry or shoes but dresses must be modeled. It is important we represent our Lord, our families and our school in a worthy manner. The dress code for this event is per the Fellowship Policy Guide, page 58.


ACADEMIC AND CHARACTER AWARDS
Wednesday, May 8, 9:40 am, Gym 1. Students receiving an award are NOT informed until the award ceremony, however, parents will be confidentially contacted if their child is receiving an award. This year character awards will be based on the Fruit of the Spirit; only nine per grade will be awarded. All parents are welcome to attend.

SUMMER MATH PACKET WORKSHOP
June 17- 21,  9:00 am - 1:00 pm, open to students taking Math 6, Math 7 or Pre-Algebra next year, $150.00. Student's will complete the Summer Math Packets and work on skill building including tips to strengthen their computation abilities and accuracy. Teachers will be Beth Cookston and Kathleen Stroud. BETA CLUB CARWASH
Thank you to everyone who supported the Beta Club car wash! Through your donations, the Beta Club was able to raise $470 for the End it Movement to end slavery!

SPORTS PLAY-OFFS
Congratulations to our athletes who are competing at state level! 

Thursday-Saturday, May 9, 10 and 11 FCS Track and Field will have two students competing at the GHSA State Track Meet. Tamilore Toyin-Adelaja will be competing in the long jump and 100 meter dash; Emma Grace Hurley will be competing in the 1-mile and 2-mile run.

Our Varsity Lacrosse, Girls' Varsity Soccer, and Boys Varsity Soccer teams have advanced to state competition as well. Check the Athletic website for play-off schedules.

WAY TO GO, PALADINS!!!!  Come support our teams!

GO OPPORTUNITIES
Students wishing to serve and receive additional GO hours this year have the following opportunities:
Roswell Day of Hope, Saturday, May 4: Opportunities to serve the inner-city of Roswell  through a network of local churches may be found at www.hoperoswell.orgSign up to volunteer. More information is in the office.
Dodgeball Tournament, Saturday, May 11: FCS is hosting this 2nd annual tournament to raise money for the End It Movement, to bring an end to slavery. Team request forms are in the office. The cost is $5 per player/$30 per team of six.

MATH PLACEMENT EXAM
Monday, May 13 through Thursday, May 16, 3:15-4:15 pm, Room 107. This exam is a challenge test for students who were not recommended for an honors level math course next year but wish to try for admittance into one. To take this test, students must sign up by May 10 with Mrs. Ray, liz.ray@fcspaladins.org.

SCHEDULES
A High School May Calendar and bell schedule for the week of May 20th may be found on RenWeb. Note: on May 23 and May 24, students only need to be at school for the exams they are taking.

EXAM SCHEDULE
The Exam schedule is on the FCS website. Students taking AP exams need only be at school for their exam; they are excused from school the remainder of the day. All AP exams will be administered in Room LL53 in the ES building. Following the AP exam, AP classes remain in session through the end of the school year. 

SENIORS IMPORTANT DATES
  • May 5 - Baccalaureate Service, 3:30 pm, FBC Auditorium (Seniors arrive @ 2:30 pm)
  • May 15-16 - Senior Exams
  • May 16-22 - Senior Trip
  • May 23 - Graduation practice & pictures, 10:00 am, Johnson Ferry Baptist Church
  • May 23 - Graduation, 7:00 pm, Johnson Ferry Baptist Church (Seniors arrive @ 6:30 pm)
SENIOR PARENTS
In order for seniors to receive diplomas, have final grades released, as well as have a final transcript sent to their attending college, ALL outstanding accounts must be cleared. (Please refer to FCS Financial Policy in All School News above.) This includes handing in final senior forms: List of Colleges & Scholarships and the Final Transcript Request form. These two forms are due back to the office no later than Friday, May 10.

SORORITY AFFILIATIONS
If you were affiliated with a sorority in college and you are willing to provide a recommendation to one of our graduating seniors going through rush, please email denice.earle@fcspaladins.org. Thank you!
