FCS GIRLS VARSITY SOCCER TEAM

FCS Girls Varsity Soccer team played hard against Paideia at the GHSA Girls State Championship game but loss in overtime 3-2. Congratulations, Lady Paladins for a tremendously successful season! Thanks to all the "True Blue" Fans who came to the game in support of our team.

GET YOUR FCS SPIRIT ITEMS
FCS vented umbrellas, water bottles and tumblers are available.  Order forms are available on the FCS website. Completed forms and checks made to FCS can be returned to either school office.

Paladin Spirit-wear is available at Paladin Center, 735 West Crossville Road, adjacent to Pike's Nursery in Trader Joe's Shopping Center. Today, Friday, May 17, beginning at 2:30 pm Spirit wear items are 50% off.

POST-SEASON ACCOLADES - GO PALADINS!
Our Varsity Boys Soccer team ended a successful season by playing in the Elite 8 game, losing in double overtime 2-1 to Hebron. Congratulations to Coach Ari Durham who was chosen as a coach for the Georgia High School State All-Star soccer game. Also, congratulations to FCS senior Drue Aiken, who was chosen as an All-Star player for the same game.

Congrats to senior Parker McClain for his All-Region Honorable Mention in baseball. He will be playing baseball at Maryville College in Tennessee next year.

Congrats go to senior Tamilore Toyin-Adelaja and freshman Emma Grace Hurley who both placed in the top ten at the State Track Meet. Tami medaled by placing 7th in the 100 meter race. Emma Grace medaled by placing 8th in the 1600 and  the 3200 meter race. Tami and Emma Grace now hold the FCS school records in their events. Way to go, girls!

SUMMER OFFICE HOURS
The school's summer office hours are Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am - 2:00 pm. The school will be closed on Fridays and the week of July 4 (July 1-5).

SORORITY AFFILIATIONS

GEORGIA GOAL 
Georgia Goal tax credit cap of $58 million for 2013 has been reached. Thank you to those who have made a tax designation and are helping Fellowship's scholarship program through Georgia Goal. The Georgia Department of Revenue is now in the process of collecting payments not yet remitted so if your application has been approved please make your payments as soon as possible. If your status is "pending approval" clarification as whether you made it before the cap was reached will be forthcoming. Now is the time to make your plans for designating your 2014 Georgia state taxes to Fellowship. 

FELLOWSHIP FUND UPDATE
Parent Participation = 88% 
Almost to our goal of 90% PP!



Fellowship Fund donations can be made through June 30, 2013. So even if you have not contributed yet there is still time. We need YOUR help today to reach our goal of 90% parent participation. Please prayerfully consider making a donation by simply clicking to make an on-line donation. A participation percentage of 90%+ is an important key to FCS being able to confidently approach foundations for grants and other FREE money. ANY size gift counts and for each percentage point increase, an anonymous donor GIVES us $1,000.00. Not only will you be helping your Fellowship family increase our participation percentage but your dollar amount is also multiplied!

We are so close to reaching our 90% parent participation goal!  A BIG THANK YOU to ALL the Fellowship families who have donated and are fulfilling their pledge! 

BUS DRIVERS NEEDED
If you know of anyone who may be interested in driving a morning bus route next year, please contact Melanie Pager, melanie.pager@fcspaladins.org. The buses are the small white buses not requiring a CDL license or any special certification. It will require approximately 2 to 2-1/2 hours depending on your route. Hourly pay based on experience starting at $15/hour.

The next Fellowship Magazine will be coming out in the fall and we want FCS Alumni News. Your help is needed in finding out about our graduates....Where are they now? Friday, May 24, Last day of school, 8:00 am- 1:00 pm. For sale: Snow Cones for $1.00 to benefit Wiphan Ministry; also bagged cookies and treats for 50 cents to benefit Uganda ministry.

AND THE WINNERS ARE....
Mrs. Ramsey's Class (2nd grade) with 688 Box Tops and Mrs. Hornsby's Class (2nd grade) with 1,579 points for L4E. Each class wins extra recess and popsicles on the playground. Thank you to all the students and parents for participating. We collected over 3,00 box tops and 4,000 labels.

LIBRARY BOOK CLUB
Be a part of the Library Book Club! There are many wonderful books waiting to be part of our permanent collection. Leave a lasting legacy for many current and future students by buying a book and giving it to the library in honor of your child's birthday, or to celebrate a new pet, a new baby or, perhaps, zero trips to the school nurse this year. SUMMER TUTORS AVAILABLE
Several Elementary teachers will be available this summer for tutoring in various areas and grade levels. Flyers are outside the ES office for more information

SUBSTITUTES FOR 2013-2014
ES is looking for people interested in being substitutes next year. A one day training session will be held during the week of teachers' pre-planning, August 5-8. Send your name and email address to carol.turner@fcspaladins.org, or drop it by the office. All interested parties must fill out an application and return it to the ES office. An appointment will then be set up for an interview.

SCHOOLKIDZ KITS CAN BE ORDERED NOW!

DURING EXAMS
Students may wear Friday Spirit wear on exam days. Dress Code guidelines will be enforced. 

MALIBU ATTIRE
Friday, May 24, 7:45 am - 12:15 pm, Last day of school
-Shorts must be dress code length; no more than 3" above the knee.
-Bathing suits may be worn underneath approved clothes.
-Colored T-shirts with acceptable slogans and writings.
-Capri pants, jeans, and athletic shorts are acceptable.
-NO white shorts or shirts, tank tops, or baggie shorts/pants allowed.
-Students riding go-carts must wear enclosed shoes.
-Students not riding the go-carts, may wear sandals.

SUMMER MATH PACKET WORKSHOP
Registration deadline: Friday, May 24, fee: $150.00. Students will complete the Summer Math Packets and work on skill building including tips to strengthen their computation abilities and accuracy. Teachers will be Beth Cookston and Kathleen Stroud. A minimum of 12 students is required. Questions? Contact beth.cookston@fcspaladins.org.  Registration Form is available here. The workshop will be held June 17- 21, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm, open to students taking Math 6, Math 7 or Pre-Algebra next year.

SUMMER INFORMATION
Monday, June 3 information concerning summer reading assignments and summer math packets will be posted on the FCS website, News and Resources News Page. All summer assignments are due the first day of school in the fall.

HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL MATH
Tuesday, July 23 and Thursday, July 25, 1:30-3:00 pm, Rooms 107 and 109, High School Summer Math Packet Help SessionsThese help sessions are available for high school students or any middle school students taking high school math courses (i.e. Geometry or Algebra I) with last minute questions about topics in the packets. Students are to bring their packet, a calculator, and a pencil to the help session. Sessions are free and no sign-up is required.

2013-2014 ELECTIVES
Look for upcoming information regarding 2013-2014 class electives next week; an email will be going out listing what classes will be offered. Priority for choosing electives will be given to 8th grade first, followed by 7th grade, then 6th grade.



 

CROSS COUNTRY
Tuesday, May 21, informational meeting, during lunchStudents interested in Cross Country in the fall should sign up in the office and pick up a summer training schedule.

LAST WEEK REMINDERS
Please see the bell schedule posted in RenWeb for the last week of school and the exam schedule on the website. 
  • All textbooks should be turned in to teachers on the day of the exam to avoid a RenWeb hold.
  • Please make sure lockers are cleaned out before the last day of school. Items left behind will be thrown away.
  • Be sure to check Lost and Found, as well as athletic shelving or locker rooms. Items left will be donated to charity.
Notes on Wednesday, May 22:
  • Classes will begin at 8:00 am (not a Wednesday delayed start).
  • Classes will end at 11:45, then students will be given time to clean out lockers
  • Teachers will be offering free tutorials from 1:00-3:00 pm.
EXAM INFORMATION
  • Dress code guidelines will be enforced during exams. Friday Spirit wear may be worn on exam days. Sweaters may be worn in the gym (sometimes the gym gets cold). NO COATS.
  • Students need only be at school for the exams they are taking, arriving 10-15 minutes prior to their exam.
  • Students MAY NOT leave campus between exams. Study areas are assigned for waiting between exams.
  • No books, coats, purses, book bags or personal items may be taken into the exam area. Valuables or money should be locked in lockers, left in cars, or not brought to school on exam days.
  • Students should leave campus when exams are completed for the day.

SENIORS/SENIOR PARENTS
Graduation practice & pictures, May 23, 10:00 am, Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, 955 Johnson Ferry Road, Marietta GA 30068. For individual and group pictures with the photographer, seniors should wear appropriate clothes under their graduation gowns.
Guys: pants and a collared shirt; girls: appropriate shoes.

SUMMER INFORMATION

High School Summer Math Packets will be posted on the FCS website on Monday, June 3. These packets are mandatory and help students review important math concepts and sharpen their basic skills. The completed packet is due on the first day of school in the fall and counts as the students first test grade in the course.

Tuesday, July 23 and Thursday, July 25, 1:30-3:00 pm, Rooms 107 and 109, Summer Math Packet Help Sessions. CERTIFICATES OF ATTENDANCE
During the months of June and July, if a Certificate of Attendance is needed by your student for obtaining a driver's license or learner's permit, please submit a request for this document at least two weeks in advance. The certificates are valid for 30 days after the issue date.

SAT/ACT PREP COURSE
Monday through Thursday, July 22 -July 25Registration form and information is on the FCS website. Registration deadline is July 9.

ROBOTICS
