FOOTBALL GAME

PARENTS - MARK YOUR CALENDAR NOW! - THREE EXCITING EVENTS

1. Tuesday, October 30, 7:00 pm, HS Lecture Hall. Parents, especially parents of middle and high schoolers, are encouraged to come hear Dr. Mark Crawfordclinical psychologist. In private practice for over 25 years, Dr. Crawford is also the consulting psychologist for The Westminster Schools and Pace Academy. He has been featured on Christian Counseling Radio, CNN and Good Morning America. Dr. Crawford will share insights into understanding the adolescent brain and how it is wired for high risk behaviors. He will address how parents can respond by setting up guard rails. Join us for this very informative evening!

2. VOTE - Tuesday, November 6

3. Tuesday, November 6, 2-3:00 pm, in the elementary school auditorium come hear NEW YORK TIME BEST-SELLING AUTHOR BOB GOFF You are cordially invited to attend and bring a friend or two, to this special assembly. Mr. Goff is the author of the book, Love Does, and, among  his friends and acquaintances, has become somewhat of a legend. On his book's back cover, he is described as the  "world's best-kept secret. Those same friends insisted he write a book and, finally, he did. It's full of paradigm shifts, musings, and stories from one of the world's most delightfully engaging and winsome people. What fuel's his impact? Love. But not the kind of love that stops at thoughts and feelings. Bob is convinced love takes action. JDRF WALK
Wednesday, November 7, Lunchtime, Paladin Field.  The entire FCS student body will partner with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) in an effort to raise awareness of juvenile diabetes. Students will receive their JDRF Walk Envelope on Friday, October 26. Parents and siblings are invited to share this time with us.  Please click here for details of on-line donations and registering as a FCS Team “walker”. 

VETERAN'S DAY CHAPEL
Monday, November 12, 8:15-9:15 am, ES Auditorium. If you have family members or friends who are past or present veterans and would like them included in our Veteran's Day tribute, please submit only digitally formatted photographs to Mr. Wayne Rasku at wayne.rasku@fcspaladins.org by Wednesday, November 7. Even if your veteran has previously been included, send a photo and info. Include your veteran's name, rank, branch of service, and his/her relationship to and name of the FCS student(s)/faculty.

CHRISTMAS CARD CONTEST
Entry deadline Friday, November 30, 3:30 pm. The annual FCS Christmas Card Contest is underway. Currently enrolled Fellowship students may submit entries and the winning design will be the cover of the school's official 2012 Christmas Card. The winning artist will receive a $100 cash prize and 20 Christmas cards. Click for rules and entry form.

ADMISSION TOURS
Thursdays, 10:00 am, outside the high school front office. Parents, please invite family and friends interested in enrolling in FCS to join the admissions team for a tour of our school. Don't forget, applications will be accepted for the 2013-2014 school year beginning November 1 and sibling applicants will be given priority during the month. MOMS IN PRAYER

THANK YOU
The teachers and staff thank the K4 and 3rd grade parents for the wonderful lunch they provided on Thursday, October 25. We thoroughly enjoyed it! Thank you so very much from the bottom of our hearts and stomachs.

Also, thank you, thank you, thank you to Lori Ison, Christy Elphick, Alison Nokes and Diane Murphy who come on Wednesday mornings to relieve our teachers and assistants so they can attend the Truth Project study meetings. We know getting here at 7:30 am when school starts at 9:00 am is a great sacrifice. Thank you very much!

Thank you to all parents, teachers and students who participated in the Chick-fil-A spirit night. The PTF appreciates all your FCS support. Please note the expiration date for the Elementary School dress down passes is Tuesday, October 30. And, the coveted cow trophy goes to.....Ms. Goar's 5th Grade class! Congratulations! The class will be awarded an ice cream party.

8th GRADE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Thursday, October 25, at Mt. Pisgah. Our 8th grade football team will play in the NAML Championship game vs Mt. Pisgah. Come cheer them on to victory!

JDRF DOLLAR BAKE SALE
Monday, October 29 through Tuesday,  November 6 the High School JDRF Walk Team is sponsoring a "Homemade Treats Bake Sale" to raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. All items will be $1.00.


NEEDED: FOUR 8TH GRADE DADS
We need 4 more dads to supervise 8th grade boys on this year's DC trip (March 24-28, 2013). Please contact Mr. Fickley by October 31 at jonathan.fickley@fcspaladins.org if you're interested in serving as a chaperone. We need YOU, Dad!


MS FRIDAY PIZZA ORDERS

ALMOST TO THE BOX TOP RACE FINISH LINE!
Friday October 26 is the last day for students to place their Box Tops in the collection box outside Mrs. McDonald's office. Only those marked properly will receive credit. This is one of our PTF passive fundraisers which helps provide funds to support several of our awesome PTF events this year. The family that collects the most Box Tops will win a gift card to a local restaurant! Thank you so much in advance for helping us out with this great fundraiser.

SPRING ELECTIVES
An informative email will be sent out to all families Tuesday, October 30 detailing steps for spring elective registration. To streamline the process, an email address is being setup to receive elective requests. Starting Friday, November 2 at 12 noon, parents will be able to send their selections to the elective email address. Please look for the October 30 email for answers to questions you may have.

LACROSSE PARENTS 
Thursday, November 1, 6:30 pm, Lecture Hall. Players and parents are invited to a Lacrosse information meeting. Come hear information about the spring season, fall opportunities and much more. Contact Andy Petrovich at andypetrovich@comcast.net with questions.

7th GRADE JEKYLL NEWS
Due Thursday, November 1 - $200 deposit and permission forms. A late fee of $30 will be assessed after November 1.

TREAD BACKPACKING TRIP
November 9 and10, Friday and Saturday is the next Tread trip! It's backpacking on North Georgia's Appalachian Trail, at the Three Rivers section. Pick up a Tread packet outside Room 205 for more information and to register.

NEEDED: THREE MORE DADS
Tuesday, December 4, 8:00 am, Operation Christmas Child (OCC) warehouse. The 8th grade class will deliver shoe boxes and work at the OCC on that day. We need seventeen (17) parent chaperones to meet OCC's required adult/student ratio. We will be back at school in time for afternoon carpool. Please email Jo McDonald, jo.mcdonald@fcspaladins.org, if you are interested in serving.

MOTHER/DAUGHTER "READ THE RED" BIBLE STUDY
Beginning Friday, December 7, 7:00 pm, in the Dragt home. Make plans to attend this mother/daughter Bible study led by Angie Dragt. It will meet every first Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm in the Dragt home. Please RSVP and direct questions to Angie Dragt at angiedragt@yahoo.com.

COMMUNITY SUPPLIESThank you to the families who turned in their "community supplies".  For those who have not, please make sure to bring them to Mrs. McDonald's office as soon as possible. 8th grade, we have enough colored pencils but would greatly appreciate 2 packs of Expo Markers.

Thursday, October 25, 6:30 pm, Room 109. Sophomores and their parents should plan to attend this meeting to receive and review the PLAN test scores.

HEALTH FIELD TRIP
Friday, October 26, the Boys' Health classes will participate in a service project to help a family in our community who is on the verge of losing their home and losing their children to foster care. The project is in conjunction with "LoveLoud Missions" at First Baptist Church in Woodstock.

LETTER JACKETS
Friday, October 26. A letter jacket representative will be on campus on this date. Students may pick up order forms and be sized for their letter jackets that day.

TREAD MOUNTAIN BIKE TRIP
Friday, October 26 and Saturday, October 27 in North Carolina.

CAMP GRACE
October 27-28, Saturday and Sunday, Fall Festival. Sophomores and Juniors who designated Camp Grace as their GO project will be assisting with this ministry's Fall Festival for underprivileged children on these days.

ART AND PHOTOGRAPHY FIELD TRIP
Tuesday, October 30, The AP Art and Digital Photography students will be traveling to Chattanooga, TN for a fine arts field trip.

COSTA RICA TRIP MEETING
Thursday, November 1, 7:00 pm, Room 202. FCS students will visit beautiful Costa Rica June 8-14, 2013, immersing themselves in realistic Spanish conversations and gaining insight into the nuances of verbal exchanges between Spanish speakers - a true hands-on learning experience. Please contact Spanish teacher Yelana Daniel, yelena.daniel@fcspaladins.org, for more information.

SENIORS
DEADLINE: November 1. Please contact Studio 7 Photography to schedule your senior photo shoot. All pictures must be taken by the first of November. Senior girls will be photographed in drapes and boys in tuxedos, both will be provided by Studio 7. In addition, photos will be taken in informal/casual settings both indoors and outdoors. Bring a change of attire for these shots. December 1 is the deadline for choosing one informal and one formal image to be placed in the FCS Yearbook.

SENIOR PARENTS, please send in your student's scholarship information as you receive it to terre.hughes@fcspaladins.org. Information needed: Name of College, Name of Award, Amount, and terms for all scholarships awarded (except HOPE and Zell Miller) regardless of whether the student plans to attend that school or not. Thank you.

REMINDER: the first deposit for the senior trip is due November 2

PEP RALLY
Friday, November 2, 2:10 pm, Gym 1. Our cheerleaders will sponsor a Pep Rally to recognize Seniors participating in fall sports. Please see the Resource Documents in RenWeb for the adjusted bell schedule for this day.
